Prayer Recipe Part 2: Let everything that has breath Praise the Lord

By Leslie Phiri

"At Midnight Paul and Silas prayed and sang praises unto God..... and suddenly there was a great earthquake so that the foundations of the prisons were shaken, and immediately all doors were opened and everyone's bands were loosed." Acts 16 v 25-26

It is saddening to realize that most Christians take praise for granted.  Praise has lost its essence and is now more of a routine than reverence. Praise time has become redundant to some christian. Some people even go the extent of taking praise as a hobby and has since lost meaning in the believers of most Christian.

However it is important to note that praise is one weapon that a christian cannot risk not losing. Prayer alone is not enough, it is important yes but prayer needs to be supported by fasting, worship, praise and  consecration. These are some of the key ingredients that you need in your prayer life.

I started off this article by quoting a very familiar incident in the new testament when Paul and Silas were incarcerated for ministering the word of God and casting out a divination spirit out of a girl. Despite the unjust arrest, Paul and Silas refused to let present circumstances affect them.they knew they had a God and instead of them sulking and meditating on the negative,  they took that as an opportunity to offer high praise to God.

While most Christians and theologians focus on the prayer part ,they overlook the the Praise part which preceded the great earthquake. Brothers and Sisters lets not take Praise for granted. There is power in prayer that is supported by praise.

But what is Praise?
Praise means to "commend , applaud and or magnify". For Christians, Praise to God is an expression of worship, lifting up and glorifying God.Praise is an expression of humbling ourselves and centering our attention upon the Lord with heartfelt expressions  of love, adoration and thanksgiving.

High Praise brings our spirit into a pinnacle of fellowship and intimacy between ourselves and God.

David was a man of Praise, through out the psalms we encounter him declaring that he will sing praise to God at all times.

While some of our breakthroughs have already come, there is need to unlock them through praise. We need to magnify God and give him all the praise and glory that he is worthy of. By offering Praise to God,  we are simply placing him where he belongs, we are saying HE is God and there is none like him.

Some people cant do long prayers but they can  surely offer High praises to God. Praise every morning, praise him at noon, and praise him at night. Let Praise, Fasting and Prayer be your lifestyle

Go through the book of Psalms and master the art of Praise.

"Let everything that has breath praise the Lord" Psalm 150-6

Happy Praise.

God bless Amen
