Direct Prayer

By Leslie Phiri

Most of us have come across the saying'; "do not tell God how big your problems are, but tell your problems how big your God is".

That is a powerful statement that inspired me to pen this article.

I want to urge you today to stop focusing on your problems, praying to God telling him  how big your problems are. It is high time that the tables turn in your life, start speaking directly into situation and witness the great power of God in your working in you.

In Acts Chapter 3; Peter and John come to the beautiful gate, there they meet  a crippled man who was expecting to get money from the two. Peter and John did not waste time trying to explain the situation to God that the man was in pain and wallowing in poverty.

They speak directly to the man's situation by saying silver and gold we do not have, but in the name of Jesus rise up and walk. That is the direct prayer that as Christians should exercise when we face situations which we deem impossible.

Jesus Christ also did a direct prayer in Mark 4v39 when he spake directly to the wind saying "Peace be still" and immediately there was calm in the sea. Jesus did not take a long and winding route to stilling the wind He spoke directly to the wind the wind listened.

However you do not start practicing direct prayer without having built a base with God first. You need to first pray to the Father in secret. you need to mantain a healthy prayer life. Once you have passed that stage , you can then start doing direct prayer.

I like the example laid by Jesus when he raised Lazarus from the dead.
In John 11 v42 Jesus first prays to the father and acknowledges that God always hears him when he prays. The implication is that  as a christian, you ought to build and sustain a healthy prayer life with God.

After He had said so, He then speaks directly to the dead Lazarus in verse 43; he says "Lazarus come forth" and Lazarus responded to the call of Christ and ressurected from the dead.

What ever situation you may be facing i pray that you speak directly to it, it will listen.

Paul says to the church in Ephesus that the same power that raised Christ from the dead is the same power that is working in us.

Do not despair my brothers and sisters, God hears our prayers and he will surely answer them.

Jesus caps the whole aspect of direct prayer when he says in Matthew 17v20 that if you have faith  as small as a mustard seed you will SAY TO THIS MOUNTAIN; move from here to there and it will move. Nothing shall be impossible to you"

That is powerful.

Take not that Jesus doesn't say you will pray to God but he says you shall speak directly to the mountain and it will listen. Speak into your situation today and all shall be well with you. God has given us the power to to great things and we need to exercise that power by speaking directly to anything that we want and it shall be granted to us.

AMEN
