Add fasting to Prayer

Most of us are accustomed to preparing recipes and there are certain ingredients which you cannot do without.

Salt is a prime example.

While prayer is important and vital in the life of a believer, it is important to take prayer as a recipe. As part of that recipe there are many ingredients including , praise, worship, consecration and fasting.

Allow me to touch me on one of the most fundamental ingredients which you cannot do without in your prayer life

Fasting is a prime example.

Throughout the bible we encounter  men of God who set aside their precious time to dedicate themselves to prayer.

Many people would  be amazed to note the extra ordinary feats performed by Moses.

The key was that Moses fasted 40 days and 40 day nights.
Even Jesus Christ Son of the Living God spent 40 days and 40 nights praying in the wilderness.
I am deeply touched by the story of  the disciples when they tried to cast out a demon on a boy who had convulsions. After repeatedly failing to cast the demon out, Jesus rebuked the demon and at once the demon came out.
Amazed at the power exhibited by Jesus, they quizzed Jesus on how he manged to expel the demon and Jesus told them that this kind can only come out by prayer and fasting.
This goes to show that prayer and fasting go hand in hand they are key in bring major breakthroughs.
Escalate your prayer life through fasting.
Fasting helps sharpen your focus on God. It helps mold a believer subsequently ensuring that the flesh is made subject to the spirit.
Let us study a few scriptures on prayer and fasting so that when we fast we do miss the mark
"When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show men they are fasting. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, so that it will not be obvious to men that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you" (Matthew 6:16-18).
"David pleaded with God for the child. He fasted and went into his house and spent the nights lying on the ground" (2 Samuel 12:16)
I also urge you to read Isaiah 58 which chronicles the value of true fasting.
Add fasting to prayer and you will experience tremendous results
