PRAYER has been defined by many Theologians, Pastors and Christians in different ways but one thing that i have found in common with all is definitions of prayer is that prayer is the communication between Man and God. It is two way.
One of the key components of prayer is the ability to communicate with God. The most important part of prayer is that it reconciles man back to God.
God always longed to be close to man that is why the bible says in Genesis 3 vs 8 that God visited Adam and Eve in the cool of the day to have fellowship with them.
After Man had fallen and sin having distanced man from God, the only way man could communicate with God was through prayer.
The Old testament is full of incidents where Prophets of old would spend time in prayer. Daniel prayed 3 times a day, Elijah prayed that it would not rain, Hezekiah prayed that God will elongate his years and all their petitions were answered- the power of prayer.
Prayer is an avenue which you can use to make your requests known to God.
The bible constantly advises believers that they should pray without ceasing. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 states that."Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus"
This goes to show that prayer is an important aspect in the live of a christian and we should embrace prayer at all time. "And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints" (Ephesians 6:18)
Prayer builds a christian, it adds value and edifies the believer.
God has released his blessing upon our lives and that blessing can only be unlocked in prayer. we have absolutely everything we need while on earth but all those great things. we can only activate those gifts through prayer. the word of God says in John 14:13-14;"And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it"
